5 years old!

My little girl turned 5 years old today!

Because there was no school (Columbus Day) Elle woke up to find this:

BRAND NEW BICYCLE!!

She was so happy! Where we live EVERYONE rides a bike to school and around the neighborhood. Elle has been longing for a bike so we thought this year would be perfect for her to start practicing. Hopefully in a year or two she'll ride her bike to school just like all the other kids!

After she tried out her bike, the weather was nice and hot so daddy took her to favorite place... the POOL! (We don't care too much going to the pool on a holiday because it is destined to be crowded but it was her special day.)

Her next favorite place was Nana's house. So after her nap from the pool we packed up and headed over to Nana's house where she was greeted with more birthday wishes (not to mention presents) from Nana, Papa and Aunty Amber! I bought her a little ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and we sang happy birthday!

Elle has such a fascination for learning new things! Her newest interest is learning about the human body. It may seem weird but her favorite show is 1000 ways to die (Yes, it does sound morbid but she finds it fascinating... as do we!) She also has a skeleton book and loves learning what the skeleton looks like. She knows what the ribs are and it's purpose, where the heart is, what a skull is... etc. Huy and I think she'll go into the medical field someday. (As of now, she wants to become a doctor and dentist. I'm glad I'm documenting this because I hope she follows through when she gets older.)

It was getting late... as you can tell. We headed home soon after.

All and all, I think she had a great birthday. Happy birthday Elle!!

Our life...

18 years and counting.... It was the summer of 1994 when Huy and I met for the very first time. We were at Youth Conference. It was love at first sight and very unexpected. We began talking, enjoyed each other's company and stayed together ever since.

We were married in 2003, sealed for time and eternity in 2004 and blessed with our very first girl in 2006.

We will be celebrating 9 years of marriage in September and our little girl's 6th birthday in October. We welcomed Isla (our newest member to our family) on April 28th 2011. We look forward to many more years of marriage and many more birthdays...

Elle is 5 years old! Where did the time go? So much has changed since she turned 5. For one... she refuses to watch "Tangled". We've learned that she is terrified of Mother Gothel. Therefore although we have the Blu-ray DVD we have yet to watch it at home.

Elle LOVES to sing. Elle LOVES to talk, talk, talk. From once a shy baby, she has blossomed into a charismatic, vivacious, silly little girl that has SO MUCH to say. Elle is UNBELIEVABLY FRIENDLY to EVERYONE she meets. Her spirit is SO BRIGHT! Elle is an amazing artist and can draw anything you draw. She has a photographic memory that is uncanny (Huy claims she gets it from him... which is probably true - I'll give him that.)

Everyday is an exciting day with Elle. I don't know what our life would be like without her. Elle is the best addition to our family. She still makes us laugh EVERYDAY! She is full of life and puts a smile on everyone's face.

Huy & I LOVE her SO VERY MUCH! We are truly blessed!!!

Isla is our newest addition to our little family. She is currently 5 months old and is growing up so quickly. To sum up Isla... she is "loud". For someone as tiny as she, she can traumatize you with her voice! Ever since she was 2 weeks old we noticed that her cry was very distinct and piercing. As she got older her voice got stronger. People who have heard her cry always comment that she has very strong lungs (that goes to show that we aren't exaggerating.) However what we've noticed is that she doesn't cry, she seems more like to scream. She actually verbalizes why she's upset. It's not baby crying, it's more like babbles in sentences. Isla's been talking since 2 weeks old and her babbles are getting much more clearer. She is very personable when she talks to you. When she's happy her babbles are cute and sweet with different intonation and she just melts your heart. However when she's tired and/or hungry and you bother her or don't meet her needs, she screams (which is understandable, I wouldn't like to be disturbed either).

Isla LOVES attention and she is very ticklish. She is very ticklish on her sides, front, back and neck. Her laugh is contagious and her smile lights up a room. She smiles with her eyes so you know its a genuine smile.

Isla adores her big sister and thinks she is the most funniest person ever!

Isla also loves her fingers, hands and feet. She dislikes pacifiers but enjoys nibbling on her fingers. You will often find her with her hand in her mouth.

We are so grateful for this new bundle of joy. She is more than what we wished for. We love her spirit just like her big sister and couldn't be happier with her in our lives!
